Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Mila Banaszak, the author of the patterns published on travelingcrochet.com. For anything concerning personal data, write to mila@travelingcrochet.com. Every message gets a reply.

What we collect, why, and on what basis

  • Newsletter - your email address. Basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Sign-up is double opt-in: you are only added once you confirm by email.
  • Pattern reviews - your first name and your review. Basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Only your first name is published.
  • Visit statistics (Google Analytics) - basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Until you give it we send Google nothing at all - the Google Analytics script is not loaded.
  • Running and securing the site - standard server logs (IP address, browser type, page requested). Basis: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in keeping the site running and protected.

There is no profiling and no automated decision-making. We do not collect special categories of data.

Who we share it with

These are the only providers involved, each within its own scope:

  • Vercel - site hosting and anonymous visit statistics.
  • Google (Google Analytics 4) - statistics, only after you consent.
  • Mailchimp - the newsletter.
  • Resend - delivering reviews to the moderation inbox.
  • Cloudflare - serving images from images.travelingcrochet.com.

Pattern purchases happen off this site, in the Naffy shop, with payment handled by Stripe. The sales contract is made directly with the seller; that shop's own terms and privacy policy cover it.

Transfers outside the EEA

Some of the providers above process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Transfers rely on the mechanisms provided for in the GDPR - an adequacy decision (the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or standard contractual clauses - under the data processing agreements in place with each provider.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter address - until you unsubscribe.
  • A published review - until you ask us to remove it.
  • The moderation email - deleted from the inbox once the review is published or declined.
  • Google Analytics statistics - per the data retention setting on the GA4 property.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • access your data and receive a copy,
  • have it corrected,
  • have it erased,
  • restrict processing,
  • data portability,
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest,
  • withdraw consent at any time - without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.

To use any of them, write to mila@travelingcrochet.com. You can also withdraw analytics consent yourself by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

If you believe we are handling your data unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For visitors in Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw.

Is providing data required

No. The whole site and every free pattern work without giving us anything. An email address is only needed if you want the newsletter, and a first name only if you want to leave a review.
